Donated Clothing

Rev. Florin Boruga…

from Sighisoara reported to us the arrival of twenty-eight boxes of clothes for the communities he works. The area around Sighisoara is under a great deal of distress due to very low temperatures. Florin works in five villages where people need clothes, wood and food. He distributed the clothes days before Christmas. There was a total of 1,600 pounds of clothes. We are grateful for contributions that enable us to ship the boxes.

Financial Aid

Rev. Florin Boruga informed us of a family of nine children whose mother passed away due to cancer. Rev. Paul Muresan visited the family last summer and left money for food and urgent needs. That same family was left with no food, no wood for heating and no money. The following day through a private donation $300 were sent to help this family.

School Supplies

In September of 2007 the gypsy children in a village outside Sighisoara needed school supplies. We were told that without the school supplies the children will not be admitted to school. Their families did not have the resources to help. Through a generous contribution $1,500 were sent to cover the expenses for 150 children. Yes, 150 children with $1,500 worth of donations.

Bread Project

The gypsies are mainly agricultural people. From spring until late fall they are working the fields mostly as hired help for those who own large parcels of land. From about late October until late March, their source if income is reduced to nothing! The Bread Project collects donations for the ingredients necessary to make bread. We fund the construction of ovens, enable the purchase of the ingredients and they do the baking. As you see in the picture, there are smiles back on their faces. Smiles reflect the language of the heart.
